Dear Audio Explorer Applicant
First and foremost, thank you for your interest in the Audio Explorers championship. We are looking very much forward to going to New York with the lucky winners but we are also eager to see your creative and innovative solutions for the assignments we are going to give you.
Sign-up & guidelines
You have to sign up in a group (2-4 participants per group) and come up with a team name e.g. “Engineering Hustlers”. Deadline for sign up is April 11th 2019.
Important: All members have to sign up individually and use the same team name in the system. The system will also ask you for an application and CV but off course you don’t have to upload this. Just upload two empty word docs.
On April 12 we will send out the challenge assignments to all groups. You will have until April 28 at 12.00 to come up with a solution. There are several ways to answer the assignment, for instance reports, slideshows, posters, small applications, CAD drawings, muck-ups etc. – you are in fact only limited by your imagination and your ambition.
The alpha and omega in this competition is your good and professionally sound ideas. In other words, we do not expect you to invest tons of energy in the presentation itself, for example in a mock-up. The main thing is that you describe your ideas and thoughts thoroughly.
You can send your solutions by regular post (Att. Mikal Thorborg, Oticon, Kongebakken 9, 2765 Smørum), by email (email@example.com) or simply drop by and hand them in. If you choose the last option, ask for Mikal Thorborg at the reception.
Finding the winners
All the solutions we receive will be evaluated by a team of R&D engineers from Oticon. The best groups – app. 25 participants - will be invited for the Oticon Audio Explorers study trip to New York from August 21-25, 2019.
All expenses for plane, hotel, leisure activities, and food will be handled by Oticon.
We will explore the sound of the urban space
As a participant on the Audio Explorer study trip you are going to join us in mapping the acoustic environment of New York. This means that you will be provided with a small, discreet sound that registers the sound pressure while we go to sites, exhibitions and presentations. Based on your measurements, Oticon will make a report of the sound levels in New York.
Our engineers and our external speakers will put your measurements into perspective and give presentations about the ways in which Oticon works with sound, audiology and advanced technical solutions that take into consideration the various sound environments the user of the hearing aid needs to navigate in.
See you at Oticon!
The winning teams will be given direct notification on May 7th and we are going to invite all the winners to a welcome day at the Oticon headquarters in Smørum prior to departure. Here you will be shown around, meet the team and attend a nice dinner.
